CUPID FIRED

I’ve waited for my valentine

For such a long, lonely time

I have waited for years

For him to end all my tears

I’ve waited for cupid to start

And shoot his arrow at a heart

The piercing of my valentine

That would then make him mine

And I hoped and I prayed

For a valentine loving serenade

But I never ever got one

So, I shot cupid with a gun

You may think my actions hard

But he did nothing in my regard

And when apology remained unsaid

I shot cupid in the head

LOVE IS CONTAGIOUS

Love is like a bad winter cold

It strikes at the young and the old

It’s not something for which they can inoculate

There is no cure for those who participate

So even if you feel like you have the flu

Love is just something you must go through

NO MORE JUMPERS FOR GOAL POSTS

We didn’t think that life

Could get any better

We were young

Happy and content

Kicking footballs

Building carts

Climbing trees

Fishing in the pond

Swimming in the pool

Then they came along

Distracting us

With their undulations

Their cheap perfume

That seemed so exotic

Walking with their funny wiggles

Laughing with their girlish giggles

And the boyhood fun was over

No more jumpers for goal posts

No more war games in the woods

We still played in the woods

But then it was holding hands

Hugging and snogging

And playing with fun bumps

But no more jumpers for goal posts

The Clerembeax Palace Hotel and Spa – The Yellow Bikini

The beautiful Downshire village of Clerembeax St Giles was situated to the west of Abbeyvale located between Grace Hill and Bushy Down and on the outskirts was the Clerembeax Palace Hotel and Spa.

It was once the home The Clerembeax’s, who arrived in Downshire following the Norman conquests and stayed for a thousand years before the name died out following the death of the reclusive Marcus Clerembeax at the age of 96.

The current owner was Yvonne Labuschagne, who decided to open it as a Hotel and Spa.

The Spa was a good attraction, but it was crucial for them to maintain a high occupancy rate, however things were tough in the Hotel trade with the success of Travelodge, Premier Inn and Holiday Inn Express and so places like the Palace needed to offer something extra to attract the guests, apart from the Spa.

So, they put on novelty weekends, such as “Murder Mysteries” and in addition, they had a sizable Ballroom which was used for special occasions, high days and holidays, which boosted occupancy and Spa numbers at the same time.

Not that the Spa needed too much help during the summer months as the sun terrace the sheltered gardens offered an extra element to the sun worshipers.

Clive Armstrong was standing on the sun terrace at the precise moment a beautiful brunette stepped through the door wearing a full-length silk robe and as soon as she reached a chaise longue the exotically coloured folds of silk that had prior to that moment cloaked her skinny frame dropped to the floor leaving her wearing only a yellow bikini, sandals and a small gold crucifix around her neck.

He stared open mouthed at the yellow of her swim suit and marvelled as it showed in stark contrast with her well-tanned olive skin.

Lillian Day then lay face down on the chaise and reached around and undid her top, which was when Clive stepped forward and said

“Would you like me to put some sun cream on?”

“Oh yes please” she replied “Just on my back, I’ve done everywhere else”

He knelt on the terrace next to the chaise and perused her tanned body, as she lay with her head turned to one side and was facing away from him.

“This might be a little cool” he warned

“Ok” she answered dreamily, and he squirted some cream on her back and began to gently rub in the lotion.

“How does that feel?” he asked

“Lovely” she replied, and he rubbed some more until he said

“I need to move your bikini aside, so I can properly apply the lotion”

“Ok” she said, and he pulled it softy away from her skin and then slowly rubbed in the surplus lotion until it was all worked in to her tanned flesh like a long relaxing massage before he squirted some more onto her, only this time instead of the middle of her back he deposited it on her shoulder blade, so it would run down her side.

“Oops” he said

“Don’t even think of going after that” she said firmly

“Why ever not?” he asked innocently

“Don’t think you can take liberties just because we’re engaged”

“It’s as good a reason as any” he retorted and then followed the path of the lotion with his finger and she giggled.

IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW – LINDA

If I knew then what I know now

I would have made Linda mine

Lovely Linda how I loved her

Her smile long remembered still affects me

That Christmas at the taxi rank

My lips hold her kisses still

My heart still yearns for her

I let her go because in the back ground was Roger

I thought it best to let it run its course

Or he would forever be between us

I was wrong and I lost her

I know now she was the one

My soul mate my Linda

What a life we could have had together

What a life we could still be having

If only I’d known then what I know now of life
