Mornington-By-Mere – (60) Charity Begins at Home

Joe Martin was on his Easter break from his second year at Abbottsford University and he was at his parents’ house, number 8, The Close, in the quaint picturesque village of Mornington-By-Mere, and his parents, sister and younger brother were all at work, so he had the place to himself.
It was around lunchtime, but being a student he hadn’t been up for long and he wasn’t even dressed, he had showered and was wearing his robe and was on his way to the kitchen for a late breakfast or probably more accurately an early lunch, but he only got halfway down the hall when there was a knock on the front door and when he opened it he found Charity Armstrong standing on the door step fidgeting like she had fleas.
Charity was his younger brother Lee’s ex-girlfriend who was a cute little brunette, who he had fancied all the time she was dating his brother, and he always suspected it was mutual, but then he went off to Uni and she and Lee broke up.
“Hey” he said
“Hi Joe” she said still fidgeting
“How are you?” Joe asked
“Desperate” she replied
“What?”
“I’m desperate for the loo” she said
“Oh” he said and laughed “You’d better come in then”
“Thanks” Charity said and dropped her stuff in the hall and darted into the downstairs loo, and shot the bolt.
Stood in the hall he heard the seat go down and a rustle of clothes and then a bump as her bum hit the seat, all of which told him he should make himself scarce before Charity proceeded to pee.

The Armstrong’s lived at West Side Farm on the other side of the village where there were a number of cottages and small houses on the Purplemere road and Dulcets Lane which formed the part of Mornington Village known as Manorside so it would have been quite a yomp for her to get home and would probably have seemed longer if she was desperate to pee.
He wasn’t quite sure what she was doing in The Close, he would doubtless find out when Charity had dealt with the urgency of the situation.

He was sitting in the kitchen when he heard the loo flush and a couple of minutes later she appeared in the doorway.
“Feeling better?”
“Much”
“Good” he said “So how come you’re over this side of the village at this time of day?”
“Oh there was something I needed to do in the Close” she replied as she stepped slowly into the kitchen
“Oh I see” he said “So an errand then”
“Sort of”
“Did you get it done?” he asked
“Almost” she replied enigmatically and once she was standing in front of him she looked up at his face and the smiling Charity added
“Because I came here to do this”
And with that said she stood on tiptoes and kissed him.
After a long and satisfying kiss that she had been dreaming of for two years she smiled broadly and said
“I’ve been looking forward to that”
“Me too” Joe replied and returned her smile
“I knew I’d get you one day” she said smugly as her arms locked around his neck and she took a little more of what she had gone to the house for in the first place.
