We are separate now,
Irrevocably
apart
So
why do you refuse
To
leave my broken heart
We are separate now,
Irrevocably
apart
So
why do you refuse
To
leave my broken heart
I changed on that day
For the whole world to see
When I asked you out
And you didn’t flee
You wernt rude to me
Or laugh hysterically
Instead you smiled
And then said yes to me
And I changed again
For the whole world to see
When I said I love you
And you said you loved me
Lizet Joubert and Andrea Lupo lived together in a two
bedroom flat above a parade of shops in Shallowfield and apart from the fact
they were both 30 years old and female they had absolutely nothing in common at
all.
Lizet was French and was a doctor at
the Dancingdean Health Centre in the village and Andrea was Italian and was a
hairdresser at Mazzone’s in
the parade of shops she lived above.
Apart from
their different careers they also liked different food, listened to different
music and wore different clothes.
The flat
was owned by Mazzone’s and Andrea and another girl from the shop, Isabella,
split the rent but when Izzy got married it left Andrea in a hole, so she put
an advert in the Chronicle and Lizet was the only applicant and apart from the
fact they were complete opposites they had lived together for 18 months and it
had worked out perfectly well.
Lizet was tall and slender with brown
hair and dark eyes and she made Andrea cross because she didn’t make the best
of what she had, she didn’t go overboard with makeup and wore clothes that she
was comfortable in rather than what made her look good.
Andrea had far less to work with, she
was shorter, plainer and chubbier than her flatmate with mousy hair and a big
nose but she
always looked immaculate, which
hadn’t gone unnoticed by Lizet.
Not that Andrea was aware of that fact
until the day after her birthday.
On Andrea’s birthday Lizet had been
on a 48 hours stint at the health centre, due to a flu epidemic that had
depleted the staff numbers and had been out after work for a few well-earned
drinks and as a result she had come home much the worse for drink.
Andrea was in the bath when she
returned and when she came out she was wearing a towelling bathrobe and a towel
turban on her head.
On seeing her flatmate all freshly
scrubbed and pink Lizet immediately rushed towards her.
“Joyeux anniversaire mon cher”
she said and threw her arms around Andrea exaggeratedly and hugged her
“Thanks Lizet” she replied and hugged
her back
Lizet however didn’t release her grip
on the little mousy Italian girl and in addition began nuzzling her neck.
Andrea felt a little awkward but
didn’t really understand what she was doing, that is until she started chewing
her earlobe.
“I don’t...” she began but in response
Lizet’s lips were over hers and her tongue immediately explored her flat mate’s
mouth.
Andrea was shocked as she had never
been kissed by a girl before and she certainly didn’t expect it from Lizet and as
far as she was aware she had given her no encouragement or indication that she
was that way inclined, which she wasn’t.
But despite all of that Andrea still
found her tongue was exploring Lizet’s mouth with equal enthusiasm, and
encouraged by her response Lizet untied the belt on Andrea’s robe and her mind
was in a turmoil, She wanted to stop but she couldn’t, all of her life sex had
always left her cold, and unmoved with no heat or passion but after Lizet had
delivered Sappho’s kiss she was on fire.
She had always put down her
indifference to the act, to a low sex drive but as she and her flat mate
embraced she wondered if in reality if she could have been driving in the wrong
direction all those years, was it conceivable that the secret of her sexuality was
finally unlocked.
It was the first time she had felt
such a kiss, the first time she’d felt that way in response to a kiss, but it had
never occurred to her that she might be gay.
“Nonsense” she said in her head “I
like George Clooney”
Yet her tongue still busied itself
inside Lizet’s mouth as her flatmates hands were inside Andrea’s robe and then those
hands fondled her breasts and all thought of protestations were dispelled from
her mind and she emitted a moan akin to a purr and she finally knew her true
self.
I’ll keep a candle burning
In
the porch window
I’ll
keep it burning there
Through
wind and rain and snow
I’ll
keep it burning brightly
Just
to let you know
That
I still love you baby
And
I don’t want to let you go
She was just my study buddy
She
wasn’t anything to me
She
just agreed to help me out
With
physics and chemistry
She
was just my study buddy
She
wasn’t interesting to me
But
I’m not sure how it happened
But
now were doing biology
I tried to win your heart
With every step and stride
With my every waking breath
My troth I fervently plied
Wearing my heart on my sleeve
I let my heart be my guide
But “never in this world”
You disdainfully replied
You killed my love
With your callous amouricide
And you left me broken
When you cast me aside
I gambled and failed
And there was no place to hide
But I didn’t just try and fail
Sadly I tried and died
It was in the early nineties when Eleanor Gallaher knocked on the door
of number 35 Finchbottom Road.
It was the Shallowfield home of Gregory and Amanda George, and had been
for 15 years, ever since they were married.
It was a house that was very well known to Eleanor as she had been
friends with Amanda for about 8 years despite being ten years younger.
“Is Amanda in?” she asked urgently when Greg had opened the door,
although she already knew the answer before she asked the question, but he
wasn’t to know that at the time.
Eleanor was pretty, but not beautiful, with a long face, a big toothy
smile and long wavy straw coloured hair and she stood around five foot three in
her flip flops.
As was the fashion of the time she was wearing knee length denim
dungarees over a white t-shirt.
“I’m afraid not Ellie, she’s gone to Abbottsford so I’m not expecting her
back until late” He replied, and to his great surprise tears
started to well up in her eyes and then they ran down her cheeks as she sobbed.
Greg in an act of
chivalry stepped into action and put his arm around her and guided her into the
hall away from prying eyes.
He stood and comfort
her without speaking when she said
“I’m sorry” and buried
her tearstained face in his neck.
He made encouraging
noises and stroked her back but being a shoulder to cry on, was the full extent
of his expertise with crying women, even pretty young women that he had
feelings for, and Ellie certainly fitted that bill to a tee.
Not that he could or
would have done anything about it, even though his marriage was in its death
throws.
He and Amanda were
only together for two reasons one was that she was catholic and didn’t believe
in divorce and the other one was laziness, it had become easier to maintain the
status quo and stay together and live separate lives than to take decisive
action to get on with their lives.
Greg was stooped over
holding Ellie for some time until her sobs began to get shallower and shallower
and eventually abated altogether but still she held on to him very tightly and
after a few minutes she began to nuzzle his neck and he could feel her breath
on his skin, which was when thoughts of comforting her took on a different
meaning.
While still nuzzling
his neck her hands began to caress up and down his back until her nuzzles
turned to kisses and Greg reciprocated the caresses and in an instant her mouth
was on his, and he tasted her soft salty lips, and hot mouth.
Ellie’s hands began to
claw at his shirt, dragging it free from the waistband of his jeans and when
she had succeeded, her trembling hands were on his flesh and she sighed and
exhaled through her nose.
The kissing and the
caressing finally gave way to pure lust and culminated in them making love in
the in the spare room.
The reason for her
distress was revealed to be that she had been dumped by her boyfriend, but the
reason for the love making was the fact they had fancied each other almost from
the first time they met.
A brief affair
followed that first afternoon of fulfilling lust but
Eleanor had called a
halt to their brief affair when she started dating a lad called Kevin and said
“Her boyfriend wouldn’t
like it”.
Greg wasn’t happy
about it because his feelings for her had deepened but what could he do, he had
to respect her decision.
But one Saturday
morning when Greg was pottering about in the garage he was disturbed by a knock
at the door.
Amanda was in
Sunderland visiting her grandmother in hospital and wasn’t back until late on
Sunday so he was enjoying himself making a mess without being reminded of the
fact every thirty seconds.
He wiped his hands as
he passed through the kitchen and opened the door and when he did Eleanor Gallaher pushed past him wearing
the familiar knee length denim dungarees over a white t-shirt, and she was muttering
something under her breath and started pacing up and down in the kitchen.
“What’s the matter?” he asked
But she just put a hand up in the “talk to the hand” gesture so he said
no more and put the kettle on.
Greg made two drinks
and picked one up and said as he headed out the door
“I’ll be in the garage
when you’re ready to talk”
It was about ten minutes later when she appeared and
shuffled silently in.
She had calmed down a lot but Greg didn’t say
anything, he would wait for her to speak first, but in the end it was Greg’s
action which broke the silence.
Eleanor was bending over a box of books and was
looking through them and as she did so his gaze fell on the denim of her
dungarees stretched tight around her buttocks.
Greg walked
up behind her as she stood up from her perusal and he wrapped his arms around
her middle and pulled her towards him and Eleanor turned her head towards him
and he leant in to kiss her, which she did not try to evade.
“I thought you said your boyfriend wouldn’t like it?” he
said as she turned towards him for another kiss.
“He’s not going to get it” she replied and took the
kiss that she wanted.
After they
made love in the garage and had redressed themselves he went in the house and
got a couple of cans of beer from the fridge while Eleanor went to pee and when
she appeared he handed her a beer.
“So what
made you change your mind?” he asked
“I didn’t
really” Eleanor replied “I broke up with Kevin”
“Why?” he asked
“He was playing away” she said bitterly “all the while
I was being faithful and not letting you touch me, he was shagging some slutty
barmaid”
“I’m sorry,”
he said sincerely
“I don’t know why you’re sorry” she said, “You got
what you wanted”
“So did you” he corrected her
“Yes I did” she replied and blushed
“But I don’t want you to think this was just revenge
sex”
“It’s alright I don’t mind” Greg said
“That’s not what I mean” Eleanor said
“I want us to become a regular thing again, I was
stupid to push you away”
“I see” he said
“I’m still looking for Mr. Right though” she stated “but
I want you as well”
So she stood up and wriggled out of her dungarees and ran
to the spare room giggling.
